coaches the University of Men's team. Coach Kilby has been at the helm of Mary Washington men's soccer team for six years and has helped the program grow since his hiring, including coaching numerous teams that advanced to the CAC semifinals and championship games.

Before coaching at Mary Washington, Kilby coached at North Carolina Wesleyan College for nine years, winning the USA South Tournament Championship, and the program's third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance as well as securing an undefeated regular , an appearance in the Sweet 16, and a #2 national ranking for most of the fall. Kilby also spent four years coaching at University where he won the Regular Season Championship each year he coached and won the AMCC Tournament three times.

Lastly, Kilby also played professional soccer in the USL and the USISL and, the Moseley Football Club in London, England.

2aDays: What is the most important quality you look for in a recruit?

Their ability, IQ, commitment, and athleticism.

2aDays: What is the best way for a recruit to get on your radar?

Email, ID camps, and videos.

2aDays: When should an athlete contact you? What is the best way?

They should email us starting in 10th grade.

2aDays: What are your expectations for incoming players in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the court?

They must be a good student (3.5/1200 or better), their overall strength is very important, and they should be training at least 3-5 days a week and working on strength, speed, agility at least two times a week.

2aDays: What are the dos and don'ts of being ?

A: Be honest, do your research ahead of time, and be realistic.

2aDays: What is the best advice you can offer a recruit?

Be realistic, honest, and take responsibility for your actions on and off the field. Be prepared physically, mentally, and socially. Be humble and hard-working!

2aDays: What really jumps out to you when reviewing a recruit's highlight tape?

Level of play and decision-making.

2aDays: What are the main dos and don'ts for a recruit's highlight tape?

Clear footage, appropriate music, 2-5 minutes, and good level of competition.

2aDays: When do you recommend recruits put together and share their highlight reels? Is it best to make their highlight reel during the offseason, in the middle of the season, or after each game?

The time does not matter; you can always send updated video footage. The footage has to catch our eye and make us want to see you in-person.

2aDays: What advice do you have for recruits who get turned down by their dream schools? What are their options if they don't gain the recruiting attention they desire?

Again, be realistic. If you want to play badly enough, you'll find a place to play.

2aDays: How big a factor is social media when recruiting players? What advice do you have for athletes regarding social media?

It is very important for us today. your opinions to yourself, and don't use foul language. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all.
