We got a chance to talk to Trinity College Head Baseball Coach, Bryan Adamski, UMass class of 2007, with a degree in English and Journalism, as well as a master's degree in sports management from Springfield College.  Upon leaving his career at UMass, he ended up as the all-time career saves leader for the Minutemen! He is entering his 6th season as the head coach at Trinity and has mentored 11 all-NESCAC selections and more than 25 NESCAC All-Academic Team selections.

Before beginning his career at Trinity College, he was an assistant with Amherst College for five seasons, helping to lead them to a 112-57 record (.663).  Along with his experience in New England College baseball, Adamski has also had a successful career in the New England Collegiate baseball summer league circuit.  He has coached in the NECBL with the North Adams Steeplecats in 2012, leading them to a 22-20 record and qualifying for the playoffs in his first season. Adamski also coached with the Holyoke Blue Sox in the NECBL prior to his time with the Steeplecats.

Adamski is widely respected by his players who have said that his intensity, passion, and knowledge allow him to get the most out of each, and every, one of his players.  Also, on July 1st of this year, Coach Adamski and his wife, Stephanie, welcomed their first child, Kace.  Congrats to coach and his wife and best of luck, and health to the entire Adamski family!

If you are a highschool student-athlete looking to play baseball at Trinity College we hope that these questions and answers can help you along the way.

2aDays: What is the most important quality you look for in a recruit?

BA: Ability, work ethic, and character are the most important.

2aDays: What is the best way for a recruit to get on your radar?

BA: For me, it's a well-thought-out email that includes video and a couple of available dates for them to get on campus.

2aDays: When should an athlete contact you, what is the best way?

BA: The spring of their junior year of high school, and by email.

2aDays: What are your expectations for incoming players in the classroom, weight room, and on the field?

BA: I expect that they care about each equally. Baseball can't be the only area of their college experience that they excel in or care about.

2aDays: What are your do's and don'ts of being recruited?

BA: Do: listen to what the coach is telling you. A lack of interest means “you can't play here.”  Don't: send the same general email to all coaches you email.

2aDays: What is the best advice you can offer a recruit?

BA: Find the right fit, not the sexy choice.

2aDays: What really jumps out to you when reviewing a recruit's highlight tape?

BA: Motor; a highlight tape should showcase not just your ability but how much you enjoy playing the game.

2aDays: What are the main do's and don'ts for a recruit's highlight tape?

BA: Do make it short and sweet, mix of practice reps and game highlights, and include your academic information.

2aDays: When do you recommend recruits put together and share their highlight reels?  Is it best to make their highlighted reel during offseason? In the middle of season, or after each game?

BA: Doesn't matter to me, it just needs to include a mix of game and practice reps.

2aDays: What advice do you have for recruits who get turned down by their dream schools?  What are their options if they don't gain the recruiting attention they desire?

BA: Move on. It was a dream school for a reason. There are plenty of great options for everyone.

2aDays: How big a factor is social media when recruiting players?  What advice do you have for athletes regarding social media?

BA: Be careful what you put your name to. Athletes should know that coaches do check that stuff.
