Coach Kavanagh is, overall, a well-meaning coach who is limited by his lack of event-specific coaching knowledge, poor communication of general information and ineffective recruiting practices. His background as a thrower means that many of his workouts consist of repeat intervals of the same length and that his coaching strategies are aimed at consistently increasing the overall intensity of training rather than having a training schedule targeted at higher intensity workouts and recovery days.
