Vassar College Head Soccer Coach Andy Jennings Offers Advice

Save to my locker

Coach Andy Jennings graduated from Exeter University in England with a Bachelor of Education, received his Master’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and gained his Ph.D. in Sports Psychology from the University of Maryland. From 1990 to 2004 he served as Vassar‘s Director of Athletics. As the head coach of the Vassar men’s soccer team from 1981 to 1985, 1989 to 1996, and 2004-present, Jennings compiled a 242-165-51 record as the winningest men’s soccer coach in Vassar history.  He has been the liberty league coach of the year three times (2009, 2012 and 2016).

During Coach Jenning’s time in England, he played semi-professional and for the England universities. Also during his sabbatical in 2001-2002, he coached the England Under-17 team where he coached many great soccer players including Wayne Rooney. This great soccer coach sat down with LRT Sports to talk about what he looks for in potential recruits, how he guides his team and how the players opinion is very important, what ACT/SAT/GPA he looks for and much more.
