Tennis | Georgia Tech’s Women’s Tennis, Vicky Flores, on What Makes a Great College Player and Reaching out for Help

Victoria, or Vicky, Flores, a rising senior at 5 foot 3 from Iowa, stands tall in her tennis team at Georgia Tech. As a junior tennis player, Flores was ranked as high as 45 in the world and competed in two junior Grand Slams. As a college freshman, Vicky was paramount in Tech’s NCAA tournament run to the semifinals. Most recently, during her junior season, she consistently played at line two singles, and line one doubles. Although the tennis season was cut short, Flores received All-American status and is going into her senior year. Vicky Flores shares her recruitment process and provides insight into the world of college tennis. 

Below are just a few of Vicky’s tennis accomplishments for the 2019-2020 season.

2020 ACC Player of the Week – Jan. 28



ITA Doubles All-America

Named ITA Southeast Region Player to Watch

Led the Jackets with a 20-7 overall singles record

Went 12-5 in dual singles play, including a 5-2 ACC mark

Named ACC Player of the Week after going undefeated in ITA Kick-Off Weekend action in January

Tied with Kenya Jones with team-best 20 doubles wins

Posted a 20-3 overall doubles record

Went 15-1 in dual doubles and 6-0 in ACC play, all from No. 1 position

Ranked as high as No. 6 nationally in ITA rankings in doubles with Jones

Ranked as high as No. 41 in singles nationally

Opened spring season going 5-1 in singles action


Went 8-2 in singles action and 5-2 in doubles

Captured flight two doubles title at Furman Fall Classic with teammate Kenya Jones and reached championship singles match to open the fall

Finished fall campaign at the Rebel Invite in Las Vegas going 2-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles with Jones

Reached semifinals in doubles at Rebel Invite, falling in a tiebreak

Capped singles play with a two-win streak.
