How to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage in Sports

Save to my locker

For the past 30 days, we have celebrated Hispanic Heritage month. Hispanic heritage is not just one race, language, or culture. It’s a union of more than 20 countries, and it’s a big part of American heritage and sports history. Some of America’s top sports stars have Hispanic heritage:

  • Ronald Acuna Jr. with the Atlanta Braves (MLB)
  • Diana Turasi with Phoenix Mercury (WNBA)
  • Kiko Alonso with the Buffalo Bills (NFL)
  • Carmelo Anthony with the LA Lakers (NBA)

Not everyone can take a trip to a country with Hispanic heritage, but the culture is so powerful that its influence is everywhere. Although the month to observe Hispanic Heritage is coming to a close, we can always continue to celebrate.

How could you experience this great culture? Go eat at a Hispanic restaurant, listen to Spanish music, watch a Hispanic movie, or even go take a dance class rooted in Hispanic heritage. And, continue to support athletes of Hispanic heritage and the impact they’ve made in sports of all levels.
