As an athlete, my favorite way to start they day was with either banana-peanut butter toast, or a protein smoothie – both high protein choices after my morning run and before classes.
Having the same thing every day can get boring after a while though, so I’m always looking for new tasty, high-protein smoothies. This smoothie recipe from LRT’s Katie Prost is a new favorite. It’s full of fresh vegetables, lots of essential vitamins and nutrients, and of course, protein.
Katie put it best when she said it’s: “Pretty epic-tasting and healthy!!”
- 1 green apple
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup diced cucumbers
- 1 strawberry (activia) yogurt
- 1 tbsp blueberries
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- 1.5 cups water
- Optional: a handful of almonds for extra protein
Toss it all into a blender and enjoy!
