Charles Brockman III is an NCAA All-American 400m hurdler competing for The University of Texas at Austin. Before college, he was one of the best high school hurdlers to come out of the state of Texas. His success also went beyond the scope of the NCAA. He was a semifinalist in the U.S Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon earlier this year.
Despite amassing an extraordinary career on the track, Brockman is far more well-known for a different talent. You might recognize him from your “For You Page” as an actor/singer that has amassed over 4 million followers on Tiktok creating comedic videos. Along with creating original content, Brockman found his niche mimicking people's childhood favorite movies and shows such as High School Musical, Twilight, and Cheetah Girls among many more.
Brockman is the perfect athlete to look to in this new era of NIL rights in collegiate athletics. He proves that one can create a strong personal brand without leveraging their university name in any capacity. He also proves those who say NIL changes will hurt performance wrong as he continues to grow his online presence while being among the best in the country in the sport. Thanks to the NIL changes, content creators such as Brockman can pursue both of their passions and reap the rewards that come with them.
