Bryana Hopkins recently graduated from Northwestern University, where she played women's basketball. She sat down with her father to discuss whether parents should be hands-on or hands-off in their child's recruiting process, the best part about the recruiting process, the most stressful part, and how academics fit into the decision making process.

He thinks it's important to be hands-on as you help your young athlete navigate the recruiting process, but to do so in the form of guidance and advice: “Leave the decision up to the athlete.”
As for the most stressful part, her dad mentions showcases: “We were probably more nervous than the kids themselves playing the game.”
Finally, he lists important factors in deciding where to commit, deeming athletics and academics equally important.
